Licensing and DMCA Policy
Every resource on Websmartify carries a license badge. This page explains what each badge allows, how we check licenses, and what to do if you believe something here infringes your rights.
This page is general information, not legal advice. The creator's own license always wins if it differs from our summary.
What does each license badge mean?
| Badge | You can use it for | You must |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial use | Personal and paid client projects | Follow the creator's license terms |
| Free with credit | Personal and commercial projects | Credit the creator as their license asks |
| Personal use only | Personal, non-commercial projects | Buy a license before any paid use |
| Free in Canva | Projects made inside Canva | Follow Canva's content license |
| Guide | Reading and learning | Nothing to download |
How do we check a license?
We read the license on the creator's own page, not on a third party mirror. If the terms are unclear, we label the resource Personal use only or leave it out. We never list commercial fonts or images that their owners sell, and we never rehost files that a creator asks people not to share.
Licenses can change. We recheck older resources on a schedule, and you should confirm the current terms on the creator's page before a big commercial project.
Can you redistribute files from Websmartify?
No. You can use resources in your designs as the license allows, but you cannot resell, rehost, or share the original files. Link people to the resource page instead.
How do you report a problem or send a DMCA notice?
If you own a work listed here and believe it is used without permission, send a notice to our DMCA agent. Please include all of the following:
- Your name, address, phone number, and email address.
- A description of the copyrighted work.
- The URL of the page on Websmartify that lists it.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own or act for the owner of the rights.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Placeholder: DMCA agent name, email address, and postal address. Register the agent with the US Copyright Office before launch.
We remove or disable the listing promptly after a valid notice, and we tell you once it is done. If you only spotted a wrong badge, use the contact page, and we will fix it.
What about counter notices?
If your content was removed by mistake, you can send a counter notice to the same address with your contact details, the removed URL, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake. We follow the process set out in the DMCA.
